Japanese and Indonesian newspapers have reported on the 10th National Party Congress, which voted to elect a new Party Central Committee in the hope that economic reforms and the fight against corruption will be reinforced.

The 10th National Party Congress on April 23 voted to elect a new Party Central Committee (PCC) for the 10th tenure. It elected 160 official members from the list of 207 candidates and 25 alternate members out of 46 candidates to the 10th PCC.

The ethnic community in Vietnam comprises 54 groups, of which 53 are minority groups with a combined population of nearly 11 million, accounting for 13 percent of the national population. The ethnic minority groups inhabit in large areas of strategic importance in terms of politics, economics, social affairs and national security and defence.

Delegates to the current 10th National Party Congress on April 22 discussed issues related to criteria and composition of candidates to be elected to a new Party Central Committee (PCC) for its 10th tenure.

The 10th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on April 21 discussed and voted on issues related to the election of a new Central Committee for its 10th tenure. The discussions included debate on the supplemented and revised Party Statute.

“We must frankly acknowledge Uncle Ho’s warning that “One nation, one Party and each person might be great and attractive yesterday, but will not always win people’s love and praise today and tomorrow once the conscience is not clear, and slides into individualism,” said Vu Quoc Hung, a Party delegate from northern Phu Tho province in his report at the 10th Party Congress.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on April 21 continued receiving congratulatory messages from foreign political parties and organisations on the occasion of its 10th National Congress.

Democracy and frankness are clearly reflected in the reports represented at the congress, which have analysed theoretical and practical issues on the Party’s leadership roles in the areas of economics, social affairs and national security and defence.
