Japanese and Indonesian newspapers have reported on the 10th National Party Congress, which voted to elect a new Party Central Committee in the hope that economic reforms and the fight against corruption will be reinforced.

Akahata

newspaper of the Japanese Communist Party on April 23 reported on the election of the Party Central Committee (PCC) for the 10th tenure, comprising 160 official members and 25 alternate members.

Delegates approved a list of 207 candidates for election to the PCC. Apart from the 174 candidates nominated by delegates at the congress, 31 candidates were nominated to fill the official seats in the new committee. Two other candidates were self-nominated. Delegates also nominated 46 candidates to elect 25 alternate members.

Compass of Indonesia on April 24 also said the 10th National Party Congress is discussing orientations for national development in the new era and will elect a new PCC in the hope that economic reforms and the fight against corruption will be reinforced.

The newspaper also quoted other sources as saying that the Communist Party of Vietnam is intensifying anti-corruption efforts and approximately 40,000 Party members have been deal with for corrupt activities over the past five years.
