VOV.VN - Vietnamese rice exports to the Philippines last year exceeded the US$1 billion mark for the first time, according to statistics compiled by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam, for the first time in decades, has signed a contract with India to buy 70,000 tonnes of 100-percent broken rice from India to meet increasing demand of this kind of rice in the domestic market for producing animal feed.

VOV.VN - Each tonne of 5% broken white rice from the country was priced US$15 higher in comparison with the same product from Thailand in the world market as of August 8, hovering between US$478 and US$482 per tonne.

VOV.VN - Vietnam is likely to reach its rice export target of 6.7 million tonnes this year thanks to favourable market conditions and high global demand, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
