Vietnam has become the fifth-largest tea exporter in the world with 108,000 tonnes exported by the end of September, generating a turnover of US$189 million.

VOV.VN - Vietnam earned over US$162 million, equal to VND4,000 billion, from exporting 92,800 tonnes of tea during the opening eight months of the year, exceeding the turnover from the entirety of last year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam is the eighth largest tea exporter in the world, earning US$135 million from tea exports in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 34.8% over the same period last year.

VOV.VN - Pakistan was Vietnam's largest tea export market with 16,072 tons being shipped to the South Asian nation in the first half of the year, and it was also the only market recording an export volume of over 10,000 tons of tea.

VOV.VN - Vietnam grossed US$108 million from exporting 61,000 tonnes of tea during the first half of the year, up 26.7% in volume and 32.1% in value on-year, according to details given by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

VOV.VN - Vietnam exported 12,000 tonnes of tea worth more than US$21 million in January, representing a surge of 85% in both volume and value in comparison to the same period from last year.

VOV.VN - Weak market demand coupled with stricter regulations remain the main barriers to the Vietnamese tea processing industry when it tries to gain a strong foothold in foreign markets.

There is plenty of room for Vietnamese tea products to secure a larger market share in the United Kingdom, as the country currently accounts for only 0.1% of the UK's total tea imports, experts have said.
