Four-month farm exports show steady gains
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s agricultural exports showed positive momentum in the first four months of the year, reaching over US$21 billion, up 10.7% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE).

April alone saw an export value of more than US$5.4 billion, a 5.4% rise compared to the same period last year.
The United States, China, and Japan remained key buyers. Shipments to the US and Japan grew strongly, while exports to China dipped slightly.
Markets in the Americas, Europe, and Africa also recorded encouraging growth, reflecting the effectiveness of recent market expansion efforts.
Six agricultural items surpassed the US$1 billion mark in export value, with two exceeding US$3 billion. Fruit remained a highlight, earning over US$1.3 billion, with tropical varieties like dragon fruit, mangoes, lychees, and longans expanding their reach beyond Asia. Coffee and rice also posted solid performance.
The growth was attributed to improved product processing and diversification. Free trade agreements such as the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) further supported access to high-standard markets. Despite these gains, challenges persist, including new US anti-dumping duties on some products.
To sustain growth, the Ministry plans to refine policies, simplify procedures, boost digital transformation, and enhance trade promotion. Focus will also be placed on developing the domestic market, ensuring food safety, and negotiating greater market access to meet this year’s export target of up to US$65 billion.
