VOV.VN - A military rescue team were honoured in Hanoi on February 24 recognising their contributions to a humanitarian mission in earthquake-hit Turkey recently.

Aside from the rescue forces from Vietnam, Vietnamese people living in Turkey have also joined hands in the search for earthquake victims in the Middle Eastern country over the past few days.

The rescue team from the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), in coordination with Turkish authorities, continued searching for earthquake victims in Hatay province on February 19.

Starting search and rescue work from February 14 in Hatay province, one of the localities hardest hit by the recent earthquake in Turkey, search-and-rescue dogs from Vietnam have proved helpful.

Vietnam always values the development of extensive strategic partnership with Japan, in which bilateral defence cooperation has made solid progress, said Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Tan Cuong on February 13.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Luong Dinh Hong, Political Commissar of the National Defence Academy, visited Laos and attended an exchange programme with Lao military alumni who studied in Vietnam from December 22-24 at the invitation of the Lao Ministry of Defence.

The Vietnamese Embassy and the liaison board of Vietnamese war veterans in Hungary co-organised a ceremony on December 20 to mark 50 years of the signing of the Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam (Paris Peace Accords) (January 27, 1973) and the 78th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944).

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is Secretary of the Central Military Commission, chaired the commission’s fifth session in Hanoi on December 19 to consider the approval of a report on the implementation of military and defence tasks in 2022, and orientations for 2023, and several draft resolutions.
