U17 squad named for training in Japan ahead of AFC qualifiers
VOV.VN - Cristiano Roland, head coach of Vietnam’s U17 football team, has unveiled a 30‑player squad for a training camp in Japan ahead of the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers scheduled for November 22-30.

The roster features key names such as striker Nguyen Van Duong and midfielder Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc, both of whom played in the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia. Goalkeeper Chu Ba Huan, awarded best goalkeeper at the National U17 Championship Thai Son Nam Cup 2025, is also included.
The players will gather on October 5 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center in Hanoi. They will depart for Japan on November 5 for a training course, which includes three friendly matches organised by the Japan Football Association. The team will return on November 16 to finalise preparations for the qualifiers.
Vietnam, as host, will compete in Group C alongside Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong (China), the Northern Mariana Islands, and Macau (China). Qualifying matches run from November 22–30, with the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup finals set for May in Saudi Arabia. The top eight teams will secure spots at the FIFA U17 World Cup.
