Vietnam to play friendlies in China ahead of 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national U23 squad will partake in a four-nation friendly tournament in China this November as part of their preparation for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.

The tournament will feature China U23, alongside two other strong U23 teams from Asia. This will be a big test for coach Kim Sang-sik and his players to refine their tactics, perfect the line up and gain valuable experience ahead of major upcoming fixtures. The tournament is expected to take place during the November FIFA Days.
Earlier in October, the Vietnam U23 team will have a training camp overseas in the UAE, during which they will play two friendly matches against the U23 Qatar team on October 9 and 14.
The 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from January 6 to 24, 2026, featuring 16 teams divided into four groups. Teams will play in a round-robin format, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
Vietnam will play in Group A alongside hosts Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kyrgyzstan, according to an AFC draw on October 2.
According to experts, this is a favourable draw for Vietnam, giving the team a solid opportunity to progress past the group stage.
