Ho Chi Minh City is ramping up efforts to make its public transport system greener, with a plan to convert 100% of its buses to electric or green energy by 2030. The initiative is part of a broader roadmap to curb emissions and promote sustainable urban transport.

Ho Chi Minh City is speeding up its shift to green public transportation, aiming to make buses run on electricity or other forms of green energy by 2030, said Ngo Hai Duong, head of Road Transport Management under the municipal Department of Construction.

Vietnam will continue to facilitate foreign investment and business activities, including those by US enterprises, in line with laws and the country’s evolving development needs, said Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies.

A landmark US$6 billion investment agreement was signed in Ho Chi Minh City on May 19, uniting Vietnam’s KOGI Group, Japan’s Mazda Oil Corporation, and several Middle Eastern conglomerates in an effort to bolster green industrial production and energy infrastructure in southern Vietnam.
