Government meeting reviews October performance, sets direction for coming months

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a monthly regular Government meeting in Hanoi on November 8, evaluating the country’s socio-economic development in October and the first ten months of 2025, as well as setting key tasks and solutions for the final two months of the year.

In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister emphasised that the international context remains highly complex and unpredictable, with major challenges including uncertain US tax policies, continued interest rate cuts in many countries, global financial market risks, escalating strategic competition, rising protectionism, and changing global economic rules.

Domestically, October saw several major political events, such as the 13th and 14th plenums of the Party Central Committee and the year-end session of the National Assembly. At the same time, the Government and local authorities made strong efforts to achieve 2025 socio-economic goals and complete the 2021–2025 term objectives, implement strategic resolutions of the Politburo, operate the two-tier local government system, and respond to successive natural disasters.

Thanks to the efforts of the political system and the people, the socio-economic situation continued on a positive trajectory, with macroeconomic stability maintained, inflation controlled, growth promoted, and major balances ensured. Cultural and social sectors were prioritised, social welfare protected, and living standards improved. Political and social stability was preserved, national defence and security strengthened, and international integration accelerated.

However, the PM said, the economy still faces many challenges, including inflationary pressures, exchange rate and interest rate fluctuations, high gold and real estate prices, slow domestic consumption, exports, and public investment disbursement. The two-tier local government model still encounters difficulties, and natural disasters, storms, and prolonged heavy rains have severely affected production and people’s livelihoods.

During the meeting, delegates focused on evaluating the situation, drawing lessons, identifying objective and subjective causes, and proposing priority solutions for the last two months of 2025.
