Vietnam and Cambodia agreed to boost cooperation in the agro-forestry-fishery sector during a working session between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Phnom Penh on December 21.

VOV.VN - Following robust export growth recorded in November, the agro-forestry-fishery sector is anticipated to rake in over US$47 billion from exports this year, US$5 billion higher compared to the set target by the Government, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Over the past four years, the Vietnamese Government, associations and businesses in the fishery sector have made efforts to carry out recommendations of the European Commission and have its "yellow card" warning against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing lifted.

The agro-forestry-fisheries sector is the mainstay of the economy of Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic in the first nine months of this year.

Vietnam’s fishermen, businesses and government have joined hands in implementing fishing regulations, in a bid to have the European Commission (EC)’s illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing “yellow card” removed.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang is striving to end illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) in 2021, as part of the country’s common efforts for the European Commission’s removal of the “yellow card” on Vietnamese fisheries sector.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has completed 98.6% of its plan to equip fishing vessels with cruise control devices as part of measures to fight illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
