Vietnamese students in RoK set new goals at 10th Congress

VOV.VN - The 10th Congress of Vietnamese students in in the Republic of Korea (RoK) sets a transformative course for the community, bringing together over 90 delegates to boost ties and chart new goals for the future.

On April 6, at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnamese Students’ Association in the Republic of Korea (VSAK) held the 10th Congress for the term 2025–2028, with the participation of Ambassador Vu Ho, embassy staff members, representatives from various Vietnamese agencies, and over 90 delegates representing Vietnamese student associations from universities across different regions and cities in the Republic of Korea.

The Congress is an important event marking a transformative step in the organization, activities, and development orientation of the association in the new term. It was also an opportunity for delegates, representing over 90,000 Vietnamese students currently studying and researching in the RoK, to reflect on past achievements, set new goals, and elect a new Executive Board for the upcoming term.

At the Congress, the VSAK Executive Board presented a report summarizing and evaluating the activities of the association during the 2023-2025 term, as well as electing the 10th Executive Board for the 2025–2028 term and outlining the tasks and directions for the new term, aiming to strengthen the Vietnamese student community in the East Asian nation, enhance its position and image, and contribute to the development of knowledge and new opportunities for Vietnamese students.

Speaking at the Congress, Ambassador Vu Ho congratulated and praised the positive contributions of VSAK during the past term, especially in community-building activities and promoting the image of Vietnamese students abroad. The Ambassador emphasized that, in the context of the new era for the nation and rapid changes in both domestic and international situations, every Vietnamese citizen, including youth and students must promote their resilience and intellect, seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and contribute to national development.

The Ambassador sent a message calling on students to always love their homeland, the country, and the people of Vietnam. While studying abroad, despite difficulties and hardships, students must strive for academic excellence, combining theory with practice, and being responsible citizens by adhering to the local laws as well as those of Vietnam, contributing to the strong development of the Vietnam-RoK Strategic Comprehensive Partnership.

In the summary report of VSAK’s activities, Nguyen Tran Hung, President of the Vietnamese Student Association in the RoK, affirmed that the association's achievements in the past two years demonstrate the solidarity and joint efforts of all sectors, organizations, students, and Vietnamese youth living and studying in the RoK. He stated that "In the next term, VSAK, as a close companion of students, will continue to innovate, increase quality, its role and reputation among Vietnamese students, meeting their needs while fulfilling the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, the Vietnamese Embassy, and the Vietnamese Students’ Association."

During the event, Nguyen Ba Cat, on behalf of the Vietnam Students Association, praised VSAK’s active role in the 2023–2025 term, recognizing the association's contributions to creating a favorable environment for students to study, innovate, and conduct research abroad. He expressed hope, "In the new term, VSAK will continue to build a network of young intellectuals in the RoK, intensify knowledge-sharing activities, connect experts, and support students in research and entrepreneurship in the fields of science and technology."

Additionally, he suggested VSAK should play a key role in guiding students to focus on their homeland, contribute their expertise, research work, and entrepreneurial ideas to help build and develop the country.

The Congress elected the new 10th Standing Board for the 2025–2028 term, made up of outstanding student leaders to continue accompanying VSAK after more than 17 years of development, ensuring its ongoing efforts to bring greater value and meaning to all Vietnamese students studying and living in the RoK.
