Increasing domestic demand for goods, services, and tourism, especially during major national holidays, and a surge in international tourist arrivals in Vietnam have substantially contributed to the trade and service sector's growth in September and the first nine months of this year, according to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.

Vietnam is focusing on boosting domestic consumption and diversifying export markets to ensure sustainable growth in response to risks of high tariffs in major markets such as the US and Europe.

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in Hanoi reached VND150.1 trillion (approximately US$5.87 billion) in the first two months of 2025, marking an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office.

A strategy for developing domestic trade between 2021 and 2030 has been signed off by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, aiming to raise domestic trade’s proportion in the country’s GDP to 15% - 15.5% in the next 10 years.
