Regional athletes gather in Hai Phong for 2025 Asian Rowing Championship
VOV.VN - The northern port city of Hai Phong is set to welcome nearly 700 athletes, coaches, and officials from 18 countries and territories for the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship, scheduled to take place from October 16 to 19, according to the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The continental tournament, to be held at the Hai Phong Rowing Training Area, is jointly organised by the Sports Authority of Vietnam, the Vietnam Rowing Federation, and the local government. It underscores Vietnam’s growing capacity and reputation as a trusted host for major international sporting events.
Participating delegations include rowing teams from across Asia, such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, and hosts Vietnam. The championship will also welcome high-level representatives from global and regional rowing organizations, including the President and Development Director of World Rowing and senior officials from the Asian Rowing Federation.
Athletes will compete in 20 men’s and women’s disciplines across the four-day championship, with organisers anticipating fierce competition and high technical standards. The tournament is considered an important tune-up for national teams ahead of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand last this year and the 20th Asian Games in Japan in 2026.
Vietnam has previously demonstrated strong organisational capabilities, notably during the 31st SEA Games in 2022 and the successful hosting of the Asian Rowing Championships in 2017 and 2024. Expectations are high that this year’s edition will further affirm the country’s standing in the international sporting community.
