VOV.VN - The National Assembly of Vietnam on November 27 approved the Law on ID Card, with 431 votes in favour out of 468 deputies present at the ongoing year-end session in Hanoi.
The chip-based ID cards have facilitated the implementation of the Vietnam Electronic Contract Development Axis (www.CeCA.gov.vn) by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency.
More than 4.8 million Hanoi residents had their health insurance cards integrated into their chip-based ID cards as of December 26, of which 271,000 people have put them into use.
