Vietnam remains committed to working with the international community to further promote gender equality and empower women to unlock their full potential and turn aspirations and ambitions into reality, said Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN).

A programme designed to help businesses measure and implement comprehensive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in human resource management to enhance their competitive edge in the global supply chain was launched in HCM City on January 16.

Vietnam’s determination to promote gender equality and to address gender-based violence is reaffirmed through the opening of another One-Stop Service Centre (Anh Duong House) in the northern province of Hoa Binh on January 9.

Seventeen Vietnamese entrepreneurs and companies was honoured with the UN Women WEPs Awards 2024 on November 28 for their innovative initiatives and significant contributions to advancing gender equality in business, in the market, and within the community, contributing to prosperity and sustainable development in Vietnam.

A photo exhibition in celebration of the National Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response opened in Hanoi on November 27.

Vietnam ranks 72nd out of 146 countries in the gender equality index this year, while the rate of female representatives in the National Assembly is always high and currently stands at 30.26%.

More than 30 journalists, reporters, and media workers from 20 central and local press and media agencies attended training on gender equality and violence against women and girls in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 28 - 29.

Vietnam has made considerable progress in promoting gender equality over the past years, and the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) has been applying itself to this work, said VWU Vice President Nguyen Thi Minh Huong.

Nearly 300 delegates, including educational managers, students and representatives of UN agencies, gathered at event in Vinh Long on October 12, which focused on promoting gender equality and girls’ rights in Vietnam.
