Da Nang promotes AI workforce development and technology transfer

VOV.VN - The Da Nang People’s Committee in collaboration with SuperEdge and AI Research Labs at Columbia University (USA) hosted the SuperEdge AI Summit 2025 on November 27, signaling the city’s push to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) training and technology transfer.

The event brought together the city’s leaders, representatives from municipal departments and industries, domestic and international universities and research institutes, professors and scientists from Columbia University, leaders of technology corporations, AI- and blockchain-focused investment funds as well as numerous innovative startups.

The summit served as a platform for Da Nang to receive in-depth scientific and technological advice from international experts, particularly Columbia University scholars.

It also opened a wealth of opportunities to strengthen cooperation among research institutes, universities, and enterprises, supporting human resource development, joint research, technology transfer, and investment attraction in fields such as AI, semiconductors, data centers, and high technology.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu said the city aims to become one of the country’s leading centres for microchip design and AI applications, fostering a strong innovation ecosystem while training and attracting approximately 3,000 high-quality AI professionals.

He added that the world is witnessing rapid development in AI, big data, and decentralized infrastructure models, which are not only creating new tools but also transforming digital infrastructure, governance approaches, and growth models of modern cities. Updating knowledge and preparing capabilities is essential for Da Nang to achieve strategic goals, from smart city development and improved governance to establishing the Vietnam International Financial Centre in the city.

During the workshop, domestic and international experts delivered in-depth presentations on decentralised AI, authentic data infrastructure and standards, AI applications in smart cities and public finance, and AI models aligned with international standards.

A key focus was the potential deployment of AI in Da Nang’s public services to build a system grounded in transparent, secure, and verifiable data.

The event also featured a signing ceremony between the Da Nang People’s Committee and SecureFinAI Research Labs of Columbia University, aimed at promoting high-quality AI human resource training, research collaboration, and the development of technological infrastructure to support the digital economy.
