Vietnam verifies information on 6 citizens detained in Cambodia
VOV.VN - Vietnamese authorities are verifying reports that six citizens were detained in Cambodia following an armed escape in Svay Rieng Province, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang cited information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, saying Cambodian authorities on November 18 detained six Vietnamese nationals who had escaped in Svay Rieng Province.
Upon receiving this information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the Embassy to verify the details and provide necessary consular protection for those involved, Hang said at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 27.
Earlier on November 18, Cambodian authorities reported that all five male individuals and one female accomplice were arrested following a daring armed escape in Svay Rieng.
The information was confirmed by Cambodia's Criminal Police in coordination with the Svay Rieng Provincial Police after several hours of urgent pursuit.
