PM encourages Guangxi to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities
VOV.VN - China’s Guangxi and Vietnam’s localities should continue expanding and deepening cooperation across various fields, especially in economics, trade, and infrastructure, to fully tap their vast potential.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was speaking during his reception in Hanoi on November 27 for Wei Tao, member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Welcoming Wei’s first visit to Hanoi, the PM highly appreciated Guangxi’s attention to its relationship with Vietnam. He emphasised that Guangxi holds an important position and role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and China.
There remains vast potential for cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam’s ministries and localities, he said.
He expressed the hope that both sides would strengthen local and community-level exchanges, improve the efficiency of existing cooperation mechanisms, and accelerate infrastructure connectivity, particularly the Lang Son – Hanoi and Mong Cai – Ha Long – Hai Phong standard-gauge railway lines.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the pilot development of smart border gates at Huu Nghi – Huu Nghi Quan and other eligible crossings, so as to promote cross-border trade, especially for Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and aquaculture products.
He stressed the need to expand cooperation in green economy, clean energy, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence applications. He urged both sides to manage the land border effectively, resolve arising issues smoothly, and leverage historical and cultural ties to enhance people-to-people exchanges, contributing to strengthening bilateral relations.
Wei, for his part, expressed his pleasure at the cooperation directions outlined by the Prime Minister and affirmed that Guangxi sees great potential for cooperation with Vietnam’s ministries and localities. He stated that Guangxi would promote infrastructure connectivity, facilitate cross-border trade, and enhance cooperation in artificial intelligence and science and technology talent training.
He expressed hope that both sides work closely to improve border management, prevent cross-border crimes, and expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Vietnam, bringing tangible benefits to their localities and communities.
