Vietnam's shrimp export industry has kicked off the year 2025 with impressive growth, solidifying its position as a key player in the domestic seafood export market.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has issued the final affirmative countervailing duty determination on frozen warmwater shrimp from Vietnam, according to the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.

The year-end festive season is expected as a stimulus to boost Vietnam’s exports of aquatic products despite various challenges, according to experts.

Despite facing many difficulties and competition from many countries, Vietnamese shrimp exporters have proactive strategies to maintain exports by shifting export markets to avoid dependence on traditional import markets.

Shipments of fishery products are estimated to rake in US$8.89 billion in 2021, posting a year-on-year rise of 5.7%, said Nguyen Quang Hung, deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Directorate of Fisheries.
