VOV.VN - Five workers have been killed in a coal mine accident in Vietnam's north-eastern province of Quang Ninh, local authorities said on July 30.

A coal mine in the northern province of Quang Ninh has collapsed, leaving seven workers injured and one missing, according to local news reports.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the northern province of Quang Ninh on June 11 to inspect the production and supply of electricity at the Mong Duong Thermal Power Company, Quang Ninh Thermal Power JSC, as well as coal mining and supply for thermal power plants at Ha Tu Coal JSC.

The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) and Kushiro Coal Mine Co. Ltd, an affiliate of Japan’s Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (Jogmec) signed an agreement on the training of safe technology and coal mining for the 2023 fiscal year in Hanoi on May 16.

Coal mining enterprises are bullish about their business operations on high coal demand, after positive results in the first quarter of 2022 with many exceeding targets.

Vietnam hopes to establish long-term stable trade and investment ties with Australia and receive technology in sustainable coal mining and processing from Australia, said Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.
