Vietnam opens first e-commerce platform for chemical industry

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) officially launched VinachemMart on May 10 in Hanoi, marking the debut of Vietnam's first specialised e-commerce platform dedicated to the chemical industry.

The e-commerce platform has been developed by a state-owned enterprise and sponsored by the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Deputy Minister of Finance Ho Sy Hung emphasised that VinachemMart will serve to broaden market access and establish a crucial big data platform for the sector, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of chemical product distribution both domestically and regionally.

VinachemMart aims to streamline transactions by directly connecting manufacturers with consumers, eliminating intermediaries to offer competitive prices and a convenient user experience, he added.

Alongside the platform's launch, Vinachem also introduced consumer products from eight of its member units, spanning household chemicals, batteries, and tires.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the chemical industry currently contributes about between 10% and 11% of the GDP value to the country's industrial sector, employing nearly 10% of the industrial workforce, with labour productivity being 1.36 times higher than the sector's average thanks to the application of automation.

Vinachem, a key player in Vietnam’s chemical industry, operates across multiple sectors. It exports to more than 70 countries, with annual revenue exceeding VND50 trillion and contributing over VND2 trillion to the state budget.
