The National Assembly, the legislature of Vietnam on November 15 adopted a resolution that allows the addition of the place of birth (POB) field to new Vietnamese passports.

VOV.VN - The United States Embassy in Hanoi announced that as of October 3, all Vietnamese visa applicants with the new blue-covered passports must have their place of birth stated in their passport before being allowed a visa interview.

VOV.VN - The Czech Republic announced on September 7 that it will temporarily recognise Vietnam’s new passport providing that the place of birth of the passport holder is added, according to the official website of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vietnam.

VOV.VN - The Finish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to recognise Vietnam’s newly issues passport as long as information about the holder’s place of birth is properly added and stamped in the passport.

VOV.VN - Germany has agreed to accept the newly issued Vietnamese passport with information about the place of birth of the holder added to the observation page of the passport, the German Embassy in Hanoi announced on August 15.

VOV.VN - The Embassy of Finland in Hanoi announced on August 11 that it has decided to stop recognising the new-style Vietnamese passports due to the lack of information regarding the place of birth of the holder.

VOV.VN - The Standing Committee of the National Assembly convened its 14th session in Hanoi on August 9 with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in the chair.

VOV.VN - The Spanish Embassy in Vietnam issued a notice on August 8 stating that after finalising mandatory technical consultations with competent central agencies in Spain, these agencies have decided to officially recognise new-style Vietnamese passports which have a blue cover.

VOV.VN - Minister of Public Security To Lam is expected to answer lawmakers’ questions relating to various issues under his ministry’s management, including the issuance of the new style passport for citizens, at the upcoming session of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Public Security will coordinate with ministries and sectors to study legal provisions so that the citizen’s place of birth can be added to the identity section of the new passport, according to Lieutenant General To An Xo.
