NA Standing Committee meets in Hanoi over three days
VOV.VN - The Standing Committee of the National Assembly convened its 14th session in Hanoi on August 9 with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in the chair.
Lawmakers are expected to examine a report on the implementation of policies and laws on thrift practice and waste prevention and a plan on public investment disbursement for 2021-2025.
Public investment disbursement is a burning issue which is put on table for discussions in not only National Assembly sessions but also in Government meetings.
A recent report by the Ministry of Planning and Investment shows the disbursement rate of public investment was less than 30% in the first six months of the year. Several ministries and agencies had not even disbursed any money allocated for the year.
During the session, the NA Standing Committee is also expected to consider the Government’s proposal to use the Unemployment Insurance Fund to support employees and employers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lawmakers will spend a day on August 10 questioning Minister of Public Security To Lam and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung over issues of public concern.
Notably, Minister To Lam will be grilled over issues relating to the issuance of the new Vietnamese passport. Germany and the Czech Republic have yet to recognize the new style passport as it lacks information relating the place of birth of the holder.
