VOV.VN - About 50 tonnes of fresh Vietnamese lychees grown in Bac Giang province have arrived in Japan and they are now available for sale at local supermarkets.

Vietnam shipped overseas US$130.94 billion worth of goods in the first five months of 2021, up 30.7% annually, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The Prime Minister has tasked the Ministry of Industry and Trade with removing difficulties in the consumption of agricultural products, especially lychee, for Bac Giang province that is now the country’s COVID-19 hotspot.

VOV.VN - Following the first consignment of Vietnamese lychees arriving in Japan, a total of five tonnes of fresh lychees originating from the northern province of Bac Giang are being exported to the United States.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has said that the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan is continuing to coordinate with relevant domestic authorities as well as supermarket networks and distributors in Japan to promote Vietnamese lychees among Japanese consumers.

A year after Japan first opened its market to Vietnamese lychees, the export and consumption of the fruit have been going smoothly despite COVID-19, Vietnam’s trade office in the Northeast Asian country said.

VOV.VN - Tan Yen district in the northern province of Bac Giang which is renowned for lychee growing in Vietnam, hosted a ceremony on May 26 to mark the shipment of 15 tonnes of its lychees to Japan.

More than 3,600 tonnes of fresh lychees from the northern provinces of Hai Duong, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc were exported to China via Lao Cai province’s Kim Thanh II international border gate from May 8 to 24.
