Acid tank explosion kills two workers at Lam Dong Chemical Plant
VOV.VN - Authorities in Bao Lam 1 commune of Lam Dong province confirmed on November 9 that two workers died in a workplace accident at a chemical plant of HC Bao Lam JSC on the same day.
The accident occurred at around 10:15 a.m at the plant located in Loc Thang village, Bao Lam 1 commune, said authorities.
Both victims - Nguyen Huu Tung (29) and Ha Duy Khanh (28) are employed at the plant.
According to initial reports, the two workers were performing a technical inspection of an HCL acid storage tank that showed signs of leakage. Attempting to tighten corroded bolts, they resorted to using a cutting machine.
Sparks from the cutting tool ignited flammable gases inside the tank, causing a powerful explosion that threw both workers a considerable distance.
Tung and Khanh were immediately transported to Lam Dong General Hospital 2 in Bao Loc but succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
Authorities from Bao Lam 1 commune, together with the Lam Dong police and other relevant agencies, quickly secured the site and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
HC Bao Lam Joint Stock Company, which commenced construction in March 2024, specialises in chemical production.
