Vietnam and India to hold 2025 Bilateral Army Exercise VINBAX in Hanoi

VOV.VN - The 2025 Vietnam–India Bilateral Army Exercise (VINBAX 2025) is scheduled to take place at the National Military Training Centre 4 on the outskirts of Hanoi from November 11–27.

A delegation from the Ministry of National Defence, led by Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, recently inspected preparations for the upcoming exercise.

During the inspection at the training grounds of Battalion 31 under Brigade 28 of the Air Defense–Air Force Service, Senior Lt. Gen. Tan, who is also Deputy Head of the Ministry’s Steering Committee for UN Peacekeeping Operations, reviewed simulation systems, troop deployment areas, and scenario coordination plans.

He emphasised that the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO) must closely coordinate with relevant units to design realistic training fields that reflect mission conditions, ensuring adequate logistics, facilities, and equipment.

He underlined the importance of meticulous, well-organised, and respectful preparation, both to ensure the success of VINBAX 2025 and to affirm the professionalism and reputation of the Vietnam People’s Army.

He also called for close inter-agency cooperation to finalise all aspects of the exercise, so as to enhance mutual understanding and defence cooperation between the Vietnamese and Indian militaries in UN peacekeeping operations.

According to VDPO leaders, planning and logistical preparations for VINBAX 2025 have been jointly and comprehensively implemented by Vietnam and India. The simulation training area and support equipment are being built and arranged in accordance with the approved design and exercise scenario.

Within the framework of VINBAX 2025, activities will include classroom sessions on UN peacekeeping principles and procedures; specialized technical and field training; integrated operational exercises; cultural and sports exchanges; and studies on Vietnam’s military history and cultural tours.

VINBAX has become a key symbol of practical and effective defence cooperation between Vietnam and India in recent years. It remains the only bilateral peacekeeping exercise that the Vietnam People’s Army conducts with a foreign partner.

VINBAX is a practical and effective cooperation activity between the militaries of Vietnam and India in recent years. The annual bilateral exercise on UN peacekeeping operations, held alternately in each country, reflects the growing political trust and the substantive, efficient bilateral defense cooperation between the two sides. It also demonstrates both militaries’ commitment to contributing to the UN peacekeeping operations.
