VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City has set a goal of developing more than 199,000 social housing units between 2021 and 2030, according to the municipal Department of Construction.

As the institutional framework has been imcreasingly improved, what remains is determined and effective execution to complete the targets of 100,000 new social housing units in 2025 and 1 million units by 2030, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has emphasised.

Lawmakers voiced their support for the adoption of a parliamentary resolution on piloting special mechanisms and policies for developing social housing to accelerate the process and shorten the investment and construction timelines for such projects, during their group discussion as part of the 15th National Assembly (NA)’s 9th session on May 21.

The construction industry is estimated to expand at around 7.8- 8.2% this year, the highest rate since 2020, according to a Ministry of Construction report.

The National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to discuss a report by a supervision delegation and a draft Resolution of the legislature on the results of the thematic supervision on the implementation of policies and laws regarding the management of the real estate market and the development of social housing within the framework of its ongoing eighth session in Hanoi on October 28.
