Vietnam has affirmed its crucial and indispensable role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to Ei Sun OH, a principal adviser at the Pacific Research Centre of Malaysia.

Since Vietnam and the UK established diplomatic relations in 1973 and upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in September 2010, the two sides have enjoyed strong growth in all-round cooperation.
