VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc inaugurated the Lao National Assembly building – a newly built project as a special gift from Vietnam to Laos – in Vientiane capital on August 10.

VOV.VN - Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to attend a ceremony to hand over the Vietnamese funded National Assembly building to Laos during his official visit to Vietnam’s neighbouring country on August 9-10.

Vietnam and Laos issued a 10-point joint statement on the occasion of an official friendship visit to Vietnam by Lao Party General Secretary and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife, and a high-ranking delegation of the Lao Party and State from June 28-29.

Vietnam and Laos set up diplomatic relations on September 5, 1962.The 59 years of the diplomatic relations was a test for the close amity shared between the two nations.

The official visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, from June 28-29, is a significant event in the great friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.

The upcoming visit to Vietnam by Lao Party General Secretary and State President Thongloun Sisoulith is of great significance, reaffirming Laos’ desires to promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, said the Lao Ambassador to Vietnam.

Vietnam is ready to provide support within its capability to Laos in overcoming difficulties that Laos faces in COVID-19 prevention and control work, standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong said.

In Vietnam's persistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateraliastion and diversification of external relations, the Vietnamese Party and State always give top priority to the special solidarity with Laos, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung has said.
