Lao PM begins official visit to Vietnam today

VOV.VN - Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh is scheduled to arrive in Hanoi on January 8, beginning a three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

During his stay, the Lao PM will co-chair the 44th session of the Vietnam – Lao Intergovernmental Committee and launch the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

This is Viphavanh’s first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as Prime Minister of Laos.

The visit takes place at a time when the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos are firmly consolidated and deepened in all fields.

On January 8 Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will host a welcoming ceremony and hold talks with his Lao counterpart Phankham Viphavan.

The two PM will then witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries and launch the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

The same day, the Lao Prime Minister will have meetings with other senior Party and State leaders of Vietnam.

Vietnam and Laos established diplomatic ties in 1962. This year they will celebrate 60 years of diplomacy and 45 years of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
