VOV.VN - The Northern and Central regions of Vietnam are experiencing one of the most intense heatwaves since the beginning of the summer of 2026, with temperatures in many areas exceeding 40°C and breaking historical records documented over recent decades.

VOV.VN - From now until mid-December 2025, moderate to heavy rains are expected to continue in central Vietnam, particularly from Ha Tinh to Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak provinces.

VOV.VN - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Khiem, Director of the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, has outlined two major possible scenarios for Typhoon Matmo’s impacts as it makes landfall in Vietnam, with Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Ninh Binh provinces most at risk.

While the northern and central regions are experiencing scorching heat, the forecasting centre said the heat may become more extreme in the time ahead.

VOV.VN - Typhoon Kompasu, with winds speed reaching up to 120km per hour at its eye, is currently heading towards northcentral provinces, causing heavy rainfall to hit localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

About 12-14 storms could hit the East Sea this year, with around half expected to directly affect Vietnam’s mainland, a meteorologist has said.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong has asked ministries, agencies and localities to seriously follow directions of the Secretariat, Prime Minister and head of the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control on response to the eighth storm and overcoming consequences of flooding in the central region.
