The Hanoi People's Committee has approved an investment project worth VND383 billion (US$14.63 million) to prevent local flooding in some areas in the inner city.

Hanoi is planning to develop satellite urban areas as part of an effort to widen local space and ease pressure from overcrowding in the inner city.

Ho Chi Minh City plans to open 22 more pedestrian streets in its downtown districts to better accommodate residents and tourists.

Owners of cars with under nine seats entering the inner city area on ordinary days would pay tolls between VND25,000 and VND60,000.
