Vietnam ends anti-dumping duties on imported plastic products
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has officially decided to terminate and not renew anti-dumping duties on certain plastic products imported from Malaysia, Thailand, and China.
The move follows the conclusion of a final review concerning anti-dumping measures on specific products made from propylene polymers originating from the three countries.
Launched in July 2023, the review was conducted in line with Vietnam’s Law on Foreign Trade Management, relevant regulations, and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement.
According to the findings, the investigating agency determined that there is no possibility that the domestic manufacturing industry will continue or recur to suffer significant damage in the event that the application of anti-dumping measures is terminated.
As a result, the MoIT has decided to discontinue the application of duties on the investigated products, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law on Foreign Trade Management regarding trade remedy measures.
Back in July 2020, the MoIT issued Decision No. 1900 imposing official anti-dumping duties on a range of plastic products and propylene polymer-based goods imported from China, Thailand, and Malaysia.
The duties, which ranged from 9.05% to 23.71%, were introduced to protect Vietnam’s domestic manufacturing industry.
