Vietnamese Embassies in Malaysia and the United Kingdom and local Vietnamese societies there have been busy over the last several days raising funds for flood-stricken people in the central region.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee on October 26 launched a text message campaign to call for public support for flood victims in the central region.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on October 26 received representatives from UN agencies and international organisations that have supported flood victims in the central region.

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked relevant units to swiftly mobilise all forces in a bid to overcome the aftermath of the severe flooding and landslides which have hit the central localities, and stabilise the lives of local people.

VOV.VN - The organisers of the Miss Vietnam pageant have raised funds worth up to VND10 billion, with beauty queens from past and present versions of the contest directly handing over relief to flood victims.

VOV.VN - A number of beauty queens arrived in Hue city, central Vietnam, on October 21 with the organisers of the Miss Vietnam pageant in order to present gifts to flood victims in the region.

VOV.VN - A charitable art programme titled “Love towards the central region”, is scheduled to be held at VOV Theater at 20:00 p.m. on October 30 in an effort to raise money for flood victims in the country’s central region.

VOV.VN - Local footballers have joined citizens nationwide to raise funds in an effort to support the victims of recent flooding which has hit central Vietnam.

Through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japanese government is assisting flood victims in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue with 50 water purifiers and 250 plastic mattresses, helping ease difficulties the victims are suffering, the JICA said on October 19.

The National Assembly Standing Committee, NA Office and NA agencies launched a campaign in Hanoi on October 16 to call for donations to residents hit by floods in the central region.
