The national population data centre and the system for making, granting, and managing citizen identity cards made debut on June 22, and they will officially come into operation on July 1.

The Departments of Public Security in 63 provinces and cities had collected dossiers of making chip-based ID cards of 33.9 million Vietnamese citizens as of April 27, equal to 67.8% of the goal of 50 million cards to be issued before July 1.

The Government has recently issued Decree No.43/2021 regulating the national insurance database which will be launched on June 1.

The national database on population, and a citizen ID card issuance and management system made debut on February 25 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Ministry of Public Security plans to have issued chip-based ID cards to 50 million citizens by July 1 this year.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has requested tourism authorities of provinces and cities to review the workforce in the industry with the aim of building a database of manpower.

The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam and the UK Embassy, held a workshop on presentation of the database on the recognition and enforcement in Vietnam of foreign courts’ judgments and foreign arbitral awards.

The Department of Information and Communications of central Da Nang city said on August 6 that it has piloted a database on COVID-19 patients.

As many as 23,623 fishing boats or 77.1% of those at least 15 metres long nationwide had been equipped with vessel monitoring systems (VMS) as of June 22, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
