Vietnam has received a US$51.5 million payment for verified emissions reductions for reducing deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) and for enhancing carbon stored in forests through reforestation and afforestation, making it the first country in the East Asia Pacific region to receive a results-based payment from the World Bank’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF).

VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong on February 15 launched the national tree planting festival 2024 in Kim Phu commune of Tuyen Quang province, northern Vietnam.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the People’s Committee of Ninh Binh province organised a ceremony to launch an afforestation campaign in Kim Son district on February 7.

A total of 108,258 ha of forest were planted in the first six months, up 22% on-year.
