Local carriers among Top 10 SEA airlines by seat capacity in 2025
VOV.VN - Two national carriers, Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air, have been listed among the Top 10 Southeast Asian airlines by seat capacity in 2025, as compiled by Aviation A2Z, India's leading aviation organisation dedicated to supporting and helping aviation professionals.
According to Aviation A2Z, Southeast Asia is one of the rapidly growing aviation markets in the world, which is characterised by its growing middle class, booming tourism sector, and dynamic economies.
Over the years, Southeast Asian airlines have played an indispensable role when it comes to connecting people, fostering trade, and boosting tourism.
The rapid recovery of tourism in the post-pandemic period has served to boost air travel demand, with leisure destinations across Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia drawing an increasing number of visitors.
Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, came fourth on the list, as the full-service carrier offers 2.4 million seats.
“Known for its high-quality service and modern fleet, including Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A350s, Vietnam Airlines caters to both domestic and international markets,” said Aviation A2Z.
It noted that the Vietnamese flag carrier continues to play a crucial role in connecting Vietnam to global destinations, while also supporting the country’s growing tourism industry.
Meanwhile, budget carrier VietJet was placed in sixth position with a seating capacity exceeding 2.1 million seats. The airline has gained popularity for its affordable fares and extensive domestic network.
VietJet also operates international routes to destinations such as Thailand, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
“Its youthful branding and dynamic marketing strategies have made it one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region,” Aviation A2Z stressed.
