The title of Academician was conferred on Professor Chau Van Minh, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) at a ceremony held by the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on November 25.

Two Vietnamese professors have been officially elected as academicians of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries.

Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, a professor of nanomaterials at the University College London (UCL), was recently elected academician of the Academy of Europe (Academia Europaea - AE), making her the first Vietnamese in this prestigious scientific organisation.
