Trade Ministry partners with Shopee to drive online export growth
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has entered into a strategic partnership with Sea Limited, the parent company of Shopee, the leading e-commerce online shopping platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, to expand Vietnam’s online retail exports across ASEAN and global markets.
Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the MoIT, and Jason Bay, Country Director of Sea Limited Vietnam, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on November 25 in Singapore to launch the programme “Shopee EZXports: Vietnam Everywhere.”
The two-year pilot scheme aims to help Vietnamese businesses, especially micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), diversify export markets, strengthen regional economic integration through e-commerce, and accelerate digital transformation.
Under the MoU, Shopee and the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency will coordinate several key initiatives. A “Vietnam Store” will be established on Shopee International to showcase authentic, high-quality Vietnamese products to consumers across Southeast Asia.
The programme will also provide training for about 2,000 MSMEs on cross-border e-commerce, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to enter and compete in international markets.
In addition, Shopee will collaborate with the MoIT to launch regional promotional campaigns such as Vietnam Digital Export Week and the ASEAN Sale with Vietnam Brand, helping to enhance Vietnam’s national brand presence and bring local products to millions of consumers in the region.
The “Shopee EZXports: Vietnam Everywhere” initiative aims to complement Shopee’s existing export support programmes. Its global sales initiative has already helped more than 350,000 Vietnamese sellers to reach customers in Southeast Asia and Taiwan (China).
Meanwhile, Shopee’s Direct Selling model enables businesses to proactively manage and expand their online storefronts in foreign markets.
