Two Vietnamese professors have been officially elected as academicians of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries.

Professor Tran Xuan Bach at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has been appointed as a member of the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) of the Pandemic Fund operated by the World Bank Group (WB) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, a professor of nanomaterials at the University College London (UCL), was recently elected academician of the Academy of Europe (Academia Europaea - AE), making her the first Vietnamese in this prestigious scientific organisation.

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Professor Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh received “the Distinguished Women in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Awards” from the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in 2023, along with female scientists from the United States, the UK, Germany, Italy, China, Singapore, India, Brazil, Japan, and Belgium.

Vietnamese Professor Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh has been honoured with the Interdisciplinary Prize of the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Chemistry for her outstanding achievements in research and innovation.

The Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on May 10 announced the Japanese Government’s decision to bestow the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon upon Vietnamese Professor Vo Tong Xuan.
