The Vietnamese delegation has actively engaged in various discussions and shared its achievements at the second Asia-Pacific Regional Review of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM), held in Bangkok, Thailand, from February 4-6.

Deputy spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang has affirmed Vietnam’s determination to fight illegal migration while responding to the report that seven of the 20 bodies found on the coast of Taiwan (China) carried Vietnamese personal papers and were victims of human trafficking.

Vietnam’s implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) was reviewed at a conference co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) on November 22.

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Vietnam held an online seminar on July 13 to discuss measures to strengthen the role of the media in promoting safe and equal migration.

Vietnam has called on countries and international organisations to set forth roadmaps or frameworks and mechanisms for result-oriented cooperation in order to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) more effectively.
