VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is keen to augment closer co-operation with enterprises and localities from the United States in the fields of economics, education, healthcare, and sustainable environmental development.

A delegation of the World Bank (WB) led by Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific Manuela V. Ferro on November 19 paid a working visit to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho during which they discussed with representatives of local authorities, sectors, businesses, and farmers related to low-emission rice production.

More than 30 journalists, reporters, and media workers from 20 central and local press and media agencies attended training on gender equality and violence against women and girls in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 28 - 29.

Vice Chairman of the Can Tho municipal People's Committee Duong Tan Hien had a meeting with Farchad Kaviani, Managing Director of Southeast Asia of SUEZ Group of France on August 20, during which they discussed the possibility of cooperation in projects related to water supply, wastewater treatment, and waste management.

Secretary of the Can Tho municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu and Governor of Japan’s Niigata prefecture Hanazumi Hideyo on August 5 exchanged views on how to boost cooperation between the two localities in various fields, with priority given to manufacturing and processing.

VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has exported the first batch of longan to both the United States and Australia by air this year with longan orchards in the locality meeting the strict standards imposed by import partners.

Up to 1.2 tonnes of thanh nhãn (bright yellow-fleshed longan) grown in Can Tho City's Co Do District, have been exported to the United States.
