Aeon Mall Can Tho breaks ground, set to be largest retail centre in Mekong Delta
VOV.VN - Hoa Lam Group and Aeon Mall Vietnam on April 26 broke ground on the Aeon Mall Can Tho project in Can Tho city which is set to become the largest retail centre in the Mekong Delta.

The project, with a total capital of VND5,400 billion (approx. US$212 million), will be built on an area of nearly 200,000sq.m. in Long Hoa ward, Binh Thuy district. Once completed in 36 months, it will be the largest shopping mall in the Mekong Delta, nine times the size of the region’s current largest mall.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Duong Tan Hien, vice chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee, stated that the project, once completed, would help transform the urban landscape, stimulate local economic development, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for residents in Can Tho and neighbouring provinces.
Can Tho fully supports the project’s timely, high-quality, and efficient execution in accordance with legal regulations, and hopes Aeon Mall Can Tho will become a top shopping destination not only for locals but also for domestic and international tourists, he said.
The project will be undertaken into two phases, with Phase 1 seeing the first shopping mall, covering 113,921sq.m., take shape within 36 months from the investment license date. In Phase 2, the second shopping mall and a parking structure will be built on 81,152sq.m.
Beyond shopping, the project is also envisioned as a bridge connecting Vietnamese agricultural products, especially those from the Mekong Delta, with both domestic and international consumers. It will generate significant local employment and help improve living standards and workforce development in the area.
Aeon Mall Can Tho marks the second collaboration between Hoa Lam Group and Aeon Mall Vietnam, following the success of Aeon Mall Binh Tan in Ho Chi Minh City’s high-tech medical zone. Aeon Mall Binh Tan, with a total investment of US$120 million and a floor area of 114,000sq.m., has been operational since July 2016. It welcomes more than 20 million visitors annually and has become a familiar destination for shopping and entertainment in the city.
