Party chief commemorates fallen soldiers at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam visited the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery in northern border Ha Giang province on February 5 to solemnly offer flowers and incense to the fallen heroes who bravely sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom.
The cemetery, located in Vi Xuyen district, is the resting place of 1,945 martyrs and a collective grave of soldiers who fell during the fight to protect the northern border of Vietnam.
At the Vi Xuyen front alone, more than 4,000 soldiers perished, over 9,000 were wounded, and thousands of remains are still scattered in rocky ravines and deep valleys, yet to be found and gathered.
Built in 1990, the cemetery is made up of sections for the graves of martyrs, along with supporting structures such as a memorial tower, stone stele inscribed with the names of the fallen heroes, and areas for family visits, organizations, and tourists.
The cemetery is not only a resting place for the fallen soldiers but also a symbol of patriotism and the spirit of defending the sovereignty of Vietnam.
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders observed a minute of silence to honor and express gratitude to the fallen heroes. They prayed for the spirits of the martyrs to rest peacefully in eternity and for their sacred souls to continue to protect the nation, guiding Vietnam to prosperity and eternal strength.
They vowed to forever remember the sacrifices of the fallen heroes, remain absolutely loyal to the goals and ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and continue the path chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the people.
United in spirit and determination, they pledged to build a prosperous, strong, and thriving Vietnam to enter a new era of development for the nation.
