Petrol prices on upward trajectory, exceed VND21,300 per litre

VOV.VN - Retail petrol and oil prices in the domestic market fluctuated in opposite directions from 3:00 PM on February 20, with petrol prices continuing to rise, surpassing VND21,300 per litre.

In the latest price adjustment cycle, the price of petrol E5 RON 92 was revised up VND257 to VND20,855 per litre, while that of petrol RON 95-III also rose VND257 to VND21,311 per litre.

Elsewhere, oil prices fluctuated in opposite directions. Diesel 0.05S was priced at VND19,063 per litre, down VND10; kerosene increased to VND19,513 per litre, up VND40; and mazut was traded at VND17,596 per kilogram, down VND183.

In this adjustment period, the regulators – Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Finance - neither set aside nor used the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for any fuel products.

In last week’s price adjustment, retail fuel prices saw slight increases, ranging from an additional VND20 to VND420 per litre, depending on the type.

The global fuel market from February 13 to 19 was influenced by several factors, including cold weather in the United States, Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure, the anticipated indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas on the second phase of a ceasefire agreement, as well as discussions on ending the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These factors caused fluctuations in global fuel prices, varying by product type.

Given the fluctuations in global fuel prices, the increase in the VND/USD exchange rate, and current regulations, the regulators decided on a fuel price management plan to ensure that domestic fuel price movements align with global market trends.
