COVID-19: Vietnam confirms no fresh cases, with 241 recoveries

VOV.VN - The country recorded no new cases of COVID-19 on May 9, marking 23 days in a row without a single infection in the community, and keeping the total number of people who have contracted the virus to 288, according to the Ministry of Health.

One day earlier, a further eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 241.

Among the total 288 infections, 148 were imported and isolated immediately after their arrival in the country.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, There remains 47 active cases under treatment at health facilities, including 10 testing negative once and four negative at least twice.

As many as 14,403 people having close contact with the confirmed patients and entering the country from pandemic-hit areas are being put into isolation, including 175 at hospitals, 6,145 at concentrated quarantine areas, and 8,083 at home or places of residence.

The country's latest cases are 17 Vietnamese citizens returning from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who were confirmed to have caught the virus on May 7.
