VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt Gen. Le Chiem showed his elation at the fruitful bilateral cooperation in shipbuilding while receiving CEO of the Netherlands’ DAMEN Group Rene Berkvens in Hanoi on June 7.
Chiem hailed the cooperation in shipbuilding between the General Department of Defence Industry of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and DAMEN Group.
He told guest that the Defence Ministry greatly values the firm’s capacity and advanced technology in shipbuilding, saying that DAMEN's technological transfer to Vietnamese defence shipbuilding factories has helped create many high-quality products for other countries and the coast and border guard forces of Vietnam.
He said he hopes that with DAMEN’s assistance, the Vietnamese ministry will reap more achievements in shipbuilding for safeguarding the country’s marine sovereignty.
In reply, Berkvens highlighted the fine relations between DAMEN and shipbuilding companies of the Defence Ministry of Vietnam as contributions to boosting the Netherlands-Vietnam cooperation in defence industry.
DAMEN deisres to expand ties in defence industry, including building multipurpose patrol vessels for the Vietnam Coast Guard and other types of ships serving socio-economic development on the Southeast Asian nation’s islands, he said.
