Travel the world without a passport at Safari Can Gio in Vietnam

VOV.VN - From watching birds fly freely and observing giraffes on a savannah to discovering wildlife from colder climates and enjoying cultural performances, Safari Can Gio is planned as a destination where visitors can explore animal habitats and experiences inspired by different parts of the world without leaving Vietnam.

Part of VinWonders Can Gio at Vinhomes Green Paradise in Ho Chi Minh City, Safari Festival Park is expected to welcome visitors in mid-2027. The planned attraction will feature more than 8,000 animals representing 212 species, alongside educational activities and cultural performances.

Rather than travelling between continents, visitors will be able to explore a series of themed areas, including a free-flight aviary, Savannah Grassland, Frozen World, Primate Kingdom and Reptile World. Each offers a different perspective on wildlife, from the colours and calls of birds to the movements and behaviour of animals in grassland and colder environments.

A free-flight aviary above an underwater world

One of the planned highlights is a free-flight aviary covering around three hectares, where visitors will be able to observe birds moving freely through an open habitat. The experience is intended to encourage close observation of their plumage, calls and flight patterns, offering an introduction to birdlife from different parts of the world.

A comparable concept can be found at Birds of Eden in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Its official website describes a two-hectare free-flight aviary that accommodates thousands of birds in a spacious, forested setting. The attraction provides an example of how visitors can observe birds in an environment designed to give them room to fly.

At Safari Can Gio, the planned aviary will be located near Phoenix Bay, a saltwater lake featuring a glass walkway through which visitors can view fish underwater. Together, the two attractions are intended to offer different ways of observing wildlife, from birds in the air to aquatic life beneath the surface.

From the savannah to the frozen world

The journey will continue through Savannah Grassland, where planned animal residents include white rhinoceroses, giraffes, antelopes and long-horned cattle. The landscape is designed to evoke open grasslands, giving visitors opportunities to observe the animals’ movements and behaviour.

A planned Giraffe Restaurant will offer a place to eat while watching the animals. Supervised feeding experiences may also be available, subject to the park’s final arrangements.

Frozen World will introduce visitors to cold-climate wildlife, with king penguins among the species planned for the area. Observing how the birds move on land and in water can help visitors learn more about their physical characteristics and adaptations to their environment.

Primate Kingdom and Reptile World will broaden the experience to include other groups of animals, each with distinctive physical features and behaviours. For younger visitors, Kid Zoo is planned as a family-friendly area featuring animals such as capybaras, wallabies, sheep and meerkats.

Educational activities and supervised encounters are also planned to help visitors learn about animals’ diets, habits and habitats. For children, such experiences can make learning about wildlife more engaging while encouraging respect for animals and the natural world.

Discovering cultures through music and dance

The planned experience extends beyond wildlife, with cultural performances inspired by traditions from different parts of the world. These programmes are intended to complement the animal attractions with music, dance, costumes and opportunities for audience participation.

The proposed Five-Continent Tribal Festival will bring together performances drawing inspiration from different cultural traditions. Green Forest Dance is another planned show, featuring performers dressed as animals and interacting with audiences.

Other performances are expected to draw on African dance, Indigenous traditions in South America and Australia, Balinese fire dance and the gong culture of Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Together, they aim to introduce visitors to a range of artistic expressions through rhythm, movement and live performance.

Animal-themed educational shows are also planned as part of the programme. Alongside entertainment, they are intended to give visitors further opportunities to learn about animal behaviour and the importance of wildlife conservation.

With its combination of animal habitats, educational activities and cultural performances, Safari Can Gio is being developed as a place to encounter aspects of the natural world and cultures from different regions in one destination. The park is expected to open in mid-2027, with final details of its attractions, activities and opening arrangements to be confirmed by the operator.
