Mang Den emerges as holiday hotspot during April 30–May 1 break
VOV.VN - Mang Den, a tourist resort in central Quang Ngai province, is attracting a surge of visitors during Vietnam’s Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) holiday period, driven by its cool climate and a lineup of cultural and tourism activities.
A highlight of the holiday is the “Mang Den – Aspiration to Rise” art programme, scheduled for April 30 at the central square, accompanied by a fireworks display. Street festivals, agricultural and herbal markets, and a food fair are also set to offer visitors diverse cultural experiences.
Beyond festive activities, the highland destination continues to appeal with its fresh air and improving tourism services.
“The weather is cool, the environment is clean, and the services are thoughtful. The people are friendly. I’d definitely come back,” Nguyen Thi Phuong, a visitor from Hai Phong, told VOV.
According to local accommodation providers, around 90% of rooms have already been booked for the holiday, many reserved weeks in advance.
“We started receiving bookings nearly a month ago, and now all rooms are full. We’ve prepared food services and experience packages for guests,” said Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, a homestay owner.
Visitors can also explore eco-tourism sites such as Pa Sy Waterfall, enjoy locally grown coffee, and experience indigenous cultural spaces.
In nearby Kon Plong, a new “Eastern Truong Son Cultural and Culinary Space” is expected to open during the holiday, adding to the region’s tourism offerings.
Tourism in Quang Ngai also showed strong growth, with more than 1.74 million visitors in the first quarter of 2026, up 41% year on year. International arrivals rose 51% to around 28,200, while tourism revenue reached an estimated VND1.57 trillion.
Located at an altitude of over 1,200 meters, Mang Den is often dubbed the “second Da Lat” of Vietnam’s Central Highlands, with year-round temperatures ranging from 16 to 22°C. The area is known for its primary forests, lakes, waterfalls and the rich cultural heritage of ethnic minority communities.
In recent years, Mang Den has expanded its tourism profile through cultural festivals and integrated “forest-to-sea” travel routes linking destinations such as Ly Son and Sa Huynh.
With favourable weather, diversified tourism products and strong demand, Mang Den is expected to remain a popular destination throughout the holiday period.
